Job Description

ArcelorMittal USA has a limited number of Environmental Engineer positions available.

As an Environmental Engineer, you will take a hands-on approach to helping promote environmental excellence within the organization by advising and guiding management and employees to deliver superior, cost-effective environmental performance.

The Environment Engineer will be responsible for implementing company environmental programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and advance programs to reduce the company’s environmental footprint.  You will prepare operating permit applications, translate environmental permit requirements into plant operating guidelines, and train management and operating personnel in compliance requirements; conduct audits to ensure plant operations conform to regulatory requirements and company policy. In addition, the candidate will  track emerging environmental issues on the local, state, and federal levels and evaluate the potential impact on plant operations;  implement voluntary programs addressing topics such as energy efficiency, waste minimization, GHG emissions reduction, and alternative energy use; oversee environmental projects including site remediation, and control systems installation and testing.  You will be responsible for providing guidance in response to environmental upsets, releases, and other events; analyzing environmental data, and recommending corrective actions for improving performance; developing and implementing solutions for non-compliance events, including management system and control system improvements, and preparing reports including Title V, SARA 313, NPDES, POTW, Hazardous and Solid Waste reports, spill reports and general environmental performance statistics.  A successful candidate will have excellent technical, leadership, communication, problem solving, and decision-making skills.

ArcelorMittal USA requires a Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Engineering, or Chemical Engineering or an environmental law degree for this position.  Additional desirable assets include a familiarity with process industry operations, and knowledge of US EPA and other regulatory standards.
