Job Description

Please note, the information as set forth below is based on the job description for entry level maintenance engineers and maintenance supervisors.  The projects in which an intern will participate will vary, depending on education level and plant, but will model the duties below to the extent possible:

Under the guidance of appropriate supervisory personnel, an Electrical Engineering Intern will utilize engineering principles to assist in the performance of engineering duties, which may include: recommending and/or performing predictive, preventative and emergency maintenance of equipment; researching, designing, evaluating, installing, modernizing, re-designing, operating, maintaining and repairing machinery and equipment; resolving equipment malfunctions, including those requiring scheduled shutdowns or breakdown action; participating in planning, scheduling, and cost control of maintenance/engineering projects; reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports; analyzing current operating performance and standard operating procedures and making recommendations for improvement; and various other projects as needed to support the business.

Candidates should be enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology, have completed at least their sophomore year of study by the Summer of 2012, and have a preferred GPA of at least 3.2.

In addition, ArcelorMittal generally does not sponsor candidates for temporary visas or permanent residency at this level.
