Job Description
Please note, the information as set forth below is based on the job description for an entry level Purchasing Associate Analyst. The projects in which an intern will participate will vary, depending on education level and plant, but will model the duties below to the extent possible.
Under the guidance of appropriate supervisory personnel, a Purchasing Associate Analyst Intern will assist a commodity team in the performance of sourcing and procurement across all US facilities, including: market analysis, bidding, negotiating and implementing national sourcing deals; serving as a resource for understanding procurement requirements; working closely with Maintenance and Operations organizations to reduce the Total Cost of Ownership of the purchase and use; performing detailed analysis (return on investment, supply-demand analysis, price-value analysis, etc.) to evaluate alternative sourcing strategies; minimizing inventory levels; identifying and developing new potential suppliers; consolidating the procurement volume to obtain leverage and cost savings while meeting the specifications of end users; creating and managing supplier metrics to drive consistent delivery, quality, and year over year savings; managing compliance to national sourcing strategies; and various other duties as needed to support the business.
Candidates should generally be enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in Engineering, Supply Chain, Business, or another related field, have completed at least their sophomore year of study by the Summer of 2012, and have a GPA of at least 3.4.
